The company:

Our client is an advanced braking technology business based in Perth that is a small/medium publicly listed company who develop and manufacture innovative wet brake systems for supply into the mining industry and truck market.

The role:

Reporting the CEO, the main function of the engineering function is product research & development, product application, the launch of new products, product features and services, product improvements, product failure investigations and corrective actions.

The Engineering Manager leads the activities of the engineering team and directs engineering resources to meet company objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver projects to a high technical, manufacturing and commercial standard within budgets and deadlines and work effectively with multidisciplinary teams to meet project milestones and goals
  • Provide technical guidance in all aspects of their business, and in particular to the engineering team. Mentor and guide their engineering and manufacturing teams in the in the application of sound engineering practice
  • Regularly review and monitor the performance of the team and identify developmental activities to ensure team reaches and operates at full potential
  • Liaise with manufacturing partners, suppliers and customers to achieve optimum solutions
  • Development and management of test procedures, design procedures and engineering operating procedures
  • Drive continuous improvement in product quality
  • Ensure quality best practices are used throughout the design, development and validation stages

Skills and Requirements:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Proven work experience in an engineering role with extensive practical and mechanical design experience
  • Highly developed leadership and mentoring skills
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to provide clear and concise calculations and reports.
  • High level of attention to detail whilst managing fast-paced projects
  • Strong analytical skills with IT systems knowledge and skills
  • Strong project management experience and organizational/time management skills
  • The ability to deliver on key objectives, including product design and development for existing as well as new products
  • Demonstrated success in product launches and end-to-end execution of product strategies
  • Experience with quality systems and certifications as they relate to product development, manufacturing, and finished products.
  • Experience in developing, implementing and improving systems and processes
