This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and commercially astute manager to undertake the role of Head of Professional Services (Research) and work with a group of caring and committed people in a meaningful organisation dedicated to delivering high quality research that influences policy development and practice change to improve homelessness, housing and urban environments of all Australians.
The Role:- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Professional Services Group (Professional Services Group provide a range of services including program evaluations, research synthesis analyses, the facilitation of research-to-policy development workshops and seminars, and leads business development for the Institute)
- Oversee the quality, relevance and cost effectiveness of Professional Services and business development activities
- Lead business development to source contracts for research projects, synthesis work, program evaluations, policy development facilitation and related research activities
- Actively lead and deliver the transfer of research into policy development through public speaking, facilitation of public and private events and through the media
- Provide strategic advice and oversight and work with the Executive Management Group to monitor team performance consistent with the strategic goals of the company
(Full position description with Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities is available on request)To be considered for the role you must have:- Demonstrated experience in working at a strategic level and have solid leadership and management experience
- Research skills - high level conceptual and analytic capacity with the ability to source, evaluate and synthesise evidence from a range of relevant research sources
- Good understanding of research quality, methods and approaches including skills in research assessment
- Superior analytical, conceptual and presentation skills
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Self managed and motivated
Qualifications and experience desired:- Demonstrated understanding of urban policy, housing, social and economic policy issues in Australia
- Demonstrated understanding of decision making processes in urban, housing, and private sector entitites
- Advanced degree (MA or PhD level) or equivalent experience viewed favourably
