Seeking: Planning and Purchasing (Procurement) Officer

Location: South Eastern Suburbs

Industry: Pharmaceutical

Experience level: 3 - 5 + years (previous work in a similar role is ideal)

Remuneration: $75,000 - $85,000 including Super

The Role:

We are looking for an individual who has managed a buying portfolio of packaging and chemicals for the pharmaceutical industry. Purchasing from suppliers components such as tubes, bottles, caps, lids, jars, boxes, labels and other packaging components as well as chemicals and other raw materials. Some of the end products that our client manufactures are, hand sanitiser, hospital-grade cleaning solution, personal care products such as lotions, shampoo, conditioner, moisturisers, sunscreens and over the counter medicines.

The key requirements we are seeking are:

1. 3 - 5+ years of packaging and chemical purchasing experience within the pharma manufacturing industry2. Planning and expediting experience

3. Good relationships and network of suppliers as well as experience with freight forwarders4. Excellent ability to prioritise, organise, coordinate and solve problems

5. A do-er with people skills and excellent at negotiating6. Experience working in a similar environment or for a pharmaceutical packaging or chemical supplier is highly advantageous

Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement and sourcing of a dedicated buying portfolio (packaging and chemicals) in a cost effective, timely and professional manner
  • Purchase materials from approved suppliers to support the production plan, agreed stock targets and according to exact specifications (considering price, quality, service and compliance)
  • Plan and purchase using Movex
  • Monitor and report on supplier performance
  • Purchase to support production as needed and maintain appropriate stock levels
  • Work in compliance with a GMP environment
  • Maintain Master Data, purchasing information records, source lists for raw materials, non-printed packaging and consumables
  • Communication in a cross-functional working environment to achieve plans, goals and outcomes
  • Liaise with Quality Control department and suppliers to ensure quality, service, delivery and continuity of supply as well as participate in audits as required

Key Requirements

Ideally, you will possess:
  • 3 - 5 + years of experience in sourcing & purchasing packaging and chemicals for the pharmaceutical, skincare, personal care, food, FMCG or related industry (3-5+ years’ experience working with local and international suppliers is highly regarded)
  • Knowledge of procurement principles
  • Movex experience or knowledge of a similar ERP system (preferably)
  • Strong administration and organisational ability
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, problem-solving ability, sense of urgency and high attention to detail
  • A natural relationship builder with a passion and competence for purchasing and achieving results for the company

Must possess:

  • Valid and unrestricted Australian Driver’s Licence
  • Full work rights in Australia (PR, NZ or AU Citizenship)
