Our client is looking for a Precision Technician to join their Manufacturing team, producing advanced medical devices that combine precision engineering, optics and technology. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with intricate components, solving technical challenges and creating products that make a meaningful difference in healthcare.

You'll be responsible for assembling highly precise miniature modules, building complex instruments, performing delicate repairs and supporting testing and development activities. Your attention to detail and craftsmanship will play an important role in ensuring every device performs to the highest standard medical standards.

What you'll be doingWorking alongside exceptional engineers and experienced manufacturing specialists, you'll be involved in the complete build and support process, including:

Assembling optical and mechanical components into precision sub-assemblies and modules

Building complete confocal microscopy instruments

Performing functional testing using diagnostic tools to verify performance and identify faults

Troubleshooting, repairing, reworking, servicing and recalibrating precision modules

Carrying out delicate component-level repairs and adjustments

Reading and interpreting technical drawings, wiring diagrams, PCB layouts and assembly documentation

Supporting the development of new designs and improvements to existing products

Inspecting components and assemblies to ensure they meet safety, regulatory and performance requirements

Maintaining accurate service logs, calibration records, test results and repair documentation

Keeping a clean, organised and safe workspace where quality comes first

About youYou're someone who enjoys precision work and understands that the smallest details can have the biggest impact.

You'll likely bring:

A Certificate, Diploma or completed apprenticeship in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Precision Engineering or a related discipline

Experience with fine mechanical assembly, miniature components, tools, jigs and precision equipment

Strong manual dexterity, fine motor skills, and the ability to work confidently with small, intricate components using precision tools and equipment

A steady hand and the ability to perform delicate assembly work with accuracy, patience and care

Experience with hand soldering of surface mount components is highly desirable

The ability to interpret schematics, PCB layouts, wiring diagrams and technical drawings

A methodical approach with patience, focus and excellent attention to detail

A commitment to quality and pride in producing work you can stand behind

Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, BOMs and work instructions.

An understanding of working within cleanroom environments, including hygiene requirements and PPE protocols

Previous experience working in environments that adhere to TGA, FDA, GMP, ISO 13485, or other strict regulatory standards (highly regarded)
